Why I Started xoandie:
- Passion for Cosmetics & Unexpected Inspiration
I have always had a passion for cosmetics, but never saw myself as someone qualified to give beauty advice. Mostly because the vast majority of my knowledge comes from my own experience and what info I could find online. All of that changed when I came across a subreddit called r/AmIUgly. This community offers a space for people to get honest feedback on their appearance. I was blown away by the sheer number of people who take to this platform to get guidance on their appearance and advice on what they could do to become for confident.
- Lightbulb
I was surprised to find myself giving beauty advice to those who sought it, and doing so with confidence. It wasn’t until this experience that I knew all of the time and effort I had put into learning about cosmetics and beauty secrets had an impact on my ability to help people on their beauty journey. A lightbulb buzzed on, and it was then that I realized perhaps I do have a knack for this sort of thing. Because while it is true that anyone could obtain the knowledge I have, through personal experiences and online research, not many people do. At least not to the same extent. And so, XOandie was born!
